Legal Question in Discrimination Law in New Jersey
fair hiring practices
I work for a NJ school district as a secretary. I was hired at step 1 on the pay grid and a subsequently hired secretary was hired at step 8. I have more education and experience. I am 20 years older. We work in the same program doing comparable work. I am currently challenging the pay disparity - I meet with the bosses tomorrow at 9:00 to ''discuss my concerns''. Do you have any advice?

Re: fair hiring practices
The best advice I can offer you is to listen to what "the bosses" have to say, take careful notes and do not agree to anything at the meeting. Afterwards, if you still believe you have suffered discrimination, you should talk with an attorney who has experience with New Jersey employment law. Please feel free to contact my office if you would like to discuss this matter further.
