Legal Question in Discrimination Law in New Jersey

Getting hired with a criminal record?

I have a criminal record. . . probation ended 2004. . . it may be expungeable maybe not. Say worst case is that is isnt. I never served any time and will never get in trouble again. If I pursue my original plans to be a genetic engineer. . which is only 4 more years of school. . . can I sue if someone doesnt hire me and I have all the qualifications. . .and they hire someone with the same qualifications. I mean. . . is it true with a record your whole life is over. . I refuse to believe good people can't learn and still follow their dreams. I don't want to accrue another 50-70000 in school loans only to find out I can't get a job anywhere. What can I do?

Re: Getting hired with a criminal record?

You should apply normally. It is illegal for an employer to discriminate against you based upon your record. If it happens, feel free to give our offices a call.
