Legal Question in Discrimination Law in New Jersey

Racial Discrimination

My friend and me recently visited a golf store. The owner told us that he has the lowest price available. I saw the price on one club and informed him of another place where someone was selling it for lower price.

At that time the owner went crazy calling us names and brown skinned. He cursed at us and told us that he does not want to do business with Brown skinned people. Also told us to get out of his store and never come back, that we should go back to the country we came from and stay there etc.

I wanted to find out whether I could file a Racial discrimination lawsuit on this business establishment. What are my leagal rights if any under the present circumstances. Keep in mind this is not a big store but a one man show.

Re: Racial Discrimination

Contact the NJ Division of Civil Rights. They will be in a good position to tell you if you have a case under the Law Against Discrimination. Use the words "place of public accomodation," when referring to the store in question.
