Legal Question in DUI Law in New Jersey

my brother lost his license for 10 years, because of 2 or 3 DWI's, he has had a clean record for 6 or 7 yrs., is there anyway he would be able to get his license back sooner, he can not get a job a distance away from his home, and he needs to support his family.

Unfortunately, New Jersey does not allow for a person whose driver's license has been suspended because of a DWI conviction to obtain a "provisional license" allowing them to drive to and from work. If your brother lost his license for 10 years in New Jersey, he must have pled guilty or been found guilty of a 3rd DWI offense. Additionally, he will not be able to get his license back sooner for any reason. I wish I had better news to tell you.

NJ law requires a 10 year driver's license suspension for a 3rd offense. The only way to change that is to challenge the conviction, which is unlikely to be successful. Did your brother have an attorney? If not, he may have a little more of a shot because the courts will recognize that he did not have the opportunity to have an expert review the evidence to see whether he might have had a reasonable defense.
