Legal Question in DUI Law in New Jersey
I was convicted in April 2008 for my second offense , I was sentenced to 2 yr suspension , 180 hrs of community service , 48 hr at idrc and 1 yr of an interlock device . I have completed 180 hr of community service , I was scheduled for 2 6 hr nights at idrc and was sent for an evaluation in which I recieved a manditory 16 week treatment because Im a second offender . The couselors paperwork that she received from the court states my suspension is 210 day . Is there a chance the judge changed his decsion and hasnt notified motor vehicle because I called MVC to see what their record reflected . I have complied with everything asked of me but now Im confused , is there any chance of me getting my license back after 7months as opposed to 2yrs for the differeces in paperwork , please advise

My guess is that the Court Administrator made a mistake when the information was sent to the counselor. Second offense is mandatory 2 years. Call the Court to check on the length of the sentence and tell them about the information that the counselor has. You want to be up front about this because if you try to mess with it, and it gets caught later, then you would just get your license suspended for the remainder of the term.
Keep in mind that this information is given based on the scanty facts that you have provided. And no one can rely on advice from an attorney who has not been retained. In order to be able to rely upon any advice, you need to meet with and retain an attorney, who will be able to give you advice after a full and comprehensive interview. Good Luck! Rob Gleaner
Call the court to look into it.
