I have a court date today, April 25th at 3pm. I want to hire a new attorney to handle my DUI case. What do I do and what do I tell the judge?

It would help if you speak to an attorney before you go there. They move these cases quickly so having one set up already would help. Either way, just tell them that you will hire an attorney right away and he/she will send a letter over to confirm that they have been hired.

Feel free to call me at 732/773/2768 to discuss in more detail.

Nothing happens at your first appearance for a DUI. So enter a plea of not guilty and call me to discuss this matter. Tell the judge you will hire an attorney.

You should tell the judge that you want to hire a new attorney and that you will speak to an attorney this week for this purpose. I assume that hiring a new attorney means that you wish to

replace your current attorney.

If this is your first court appearance, you should not have a problem. It would be good if you had alreading obtained the services of a new attorney, but at this point there are only four hours before you have to be in court.

Call me if you like.
