Legal Question in DUI Law in New Jersey

DUI in NC, live in NJ

Received a DUI in NC in May of this year. I haven't gone to court in NC yet, but if I am convicted in NC, how will it apply to NJ driving privledges? Do I, and at what point, need to obtain a NJ lawyer, or is it open / shut because of the conviction in NC? If suspended in NC for 6 months and NJ doesn't find out about the suspension for 5 months, can they suspend NJ license past the end date of the suspension in NC?

If and when New Jersey Motor Vehicles learns of

an out of state dwi conviction it will give you the same license suspension as you would have received in New Jersey. In New Jersey, if you reading is between .08 .099 you will receive a

90 day suspension as a first offender. It would be helpful , assuming that you plead guilty, that you plead guilty to a reading under .10 and that you obtain a record of this fact, either through some document provided by the court or by ordering a transcript of the guilty plea before you leave that state. I would think that a transcript would be less than $100.00.

With a transcript of the breathalyzer reading you plead guilty to I could represent you and argue to make the suspension no more than three months.
