Legal Question in DUI Law in New Jersey
Dui,nj
My DUI 2005 was upheld St. vs Chun. I have since relocated to another state. I have not received any notice from the court yet. When I do will I be forced to pay all municiple fines at that time will I have to surrender my out of state license, will I have to attend driver programs in NJ. Can I get an occupational license with a DUI suspension? Can I warrant be issued if I did not receive any notification by mail and how would this affect my out of state status?

Generally the DMV of one State has jurisdiction only over its own State and can not suspend the license issued by another state, they can however do so themselves under reciprocity...
You may ask for a conditional license from the DMV, or a hardship license from the Court...
much luck!

You should call the court now to find out when your new court date will be. If you moved out of state then you should also give them your new address. You can usually work out a payment plan to pay off your fines over time, so you will not have to pay all of the fines at once. The judge can suspend your New Jersey driving privileges only, but the suspension and conviction are reported to your home state's DMV and your home state will then decide if they are going to suspend your license out of that state. You will usually have to attend to the DWI school in New Jersey, but I know that NY has a reciprocity agreement with NJ to allow you to attend a school there is you are a NY resident. If you have any other questions please feel free to call my office.
