First, I would never advise anyone to go to court on a criminal charge without a lawyer, especially if they are minors. Second, the other possible scenario is she can go to juvenile detention for up to six months and can be expelled from her school, and if she has a driver's license she can lose it for six months to two years. If she doesn't have one she can be prevented from getting one for six months to two years. You can also have to pay fines in excess of $1,000.00. The scenario of just getting the case dismissed if she stays out of trouble is certainly not a guaranteed thing. There is also the possibility of flat out winning the case, so that needs to be explored as well. The arrangement you are talking about is called a "period of adjustment". Based on what you have described, that does sound like the most likely outcome. However, better or worse outcomes are possible. You should be aware that her juvenile record will be sealed, but for some purposes the fact that it exists will be known. What County are we talking about?

Are you aware that if this is not handled correctly, she could lose her driver's license and other important privileges?
