Legal Question in DUI Law in New Jersey

I received a ticket for having a cup of beer on the streets from a Rutgers Campus police officer in New Brunswick, NJ. The violation number is 9.04.020. I really need to know if this will come up on a criminal background check or can I just pay the fine and forget it ever happened.

If you just pay it, which I'm not sure you can even do without going to court, then you will have a Municipal Ordinance record. Although this is not a criminal record, it is a record that could show up on background checks. Please contact me to discuss this matter in more detail.
