Legal Question in DUI Law in New Jersey
I just today recieved a notice for warrant for arrest! It is dated 6/29/91 and says in contempt and consumption of alcoholic beverage by driver. Obviously being a 22 year old offense I do not remember this one bit. I'm trying to figure out why I wasn't arrested if this DID occur, what exactly the charge means etc. Is my license suspended? Why was this only issued now? Is it a DUI and even if not will my licensed be suspended? I have no other history of any DUI offenses at anytime ever.

The warrant likely has a bail on it that you have to post. You need to contact the court where the summons was issued and ask them the amount of the bail, and then pay that bail. At the end of your case the bail money will be returned to you. Your license probably is suspended because in most cases when a person fails to appear in court the judge suspends their license and notifies the motor vehicle commission about the suspension. You need to contact the motor vehicle commission to see if your license is suspended and if it is you need to pay the restoration fee to get it reactivated. Regarding the charge itself, the reason it is so old is because it has been put on hold for 20 years until they were able to find you and get you to come back to court. You definitely need a lawyer to represent you on the DWI charge. Please contact me to discuss your case in more detail. I never charge for talking to a person about their case. Thank you.

Such an old case is probably impossible to prove because the police officer has probably retired or forgotten what you look like and is unable to identify you as the person he charged with the offense.
I can help you get the case scheduled and painlessly disposed of .
Call me if you like.
Sounds like you live in Chester county, PA
I practice in both states....hopefully there is no fugitive warrant.
Please call me so we can set everything straight.
