i'm confused as to the power of attorney versus the executor of a will?

A power of attorney gives a person (agent) control over the financial affairs of a living person (principal) and it expires of the death of the principal. A will authorizes a person named as executor to see to the final financial affairs and distribution of the assets of a deceased person.
