Legal Question in Elder Law in New Jersey

How can i protect my dad?

My dad remarried, and has been married for 20 yrs now. He has had two strokes, so can not communicate very well, but understands everything. His wife has power of attorney and can make all the decisions. What can we do if we do not feel that she is making the right or correct chooses for him. Can someone else be appointed to check out his affairs, both financial and physical, to make sure his needs are being met? If so, how do we find such a person? We feel she is emotionaly abusive to him. He says, shes taking his money and wants to lock him away.

Re: How can i protect my dad?

The attorney in fact has a fiduciary obligation under the power of attorney; if you believe this legal obligation is being violated, I suggest you retain an attorney to investigate and possibly "challange" the actions of the stepmothers actions.
