Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
Have a 1992 divorce agreement in which both parents share equally in college costs. Ex-husband has gone bankrupt twice now and a mediator ordered him to pay a small fraction of his back child support and college expenses. The child is now in his 5th year of college, terrible student with a 1.5 GPA and needs another year of college. Mother has had it and refuses to waste any more than the $36,000 wasted with F's. Father threatens legal action if mother does not contribute lions share of costs for this terrible student.

Looks like this is headed to court. Well if the child has been actually getting F's, he is probably not going completing a full-time semester. As a result, you may have a viable emancipation motion.
Its a tough situation because you get punished for having your finances in order. I would talk to an attorney to work out a plan and I would do it right away before we start talking about the Fall semester. Feel free to call me at 732/773/2768 to discuss.
That makes no sense. You need a lawyer. Give me a call.

What does the property settlement agreement say as to age until which college bill will be paid?
