Can a 15 year old be amancipated from a parent who has not visited them in over
Child has not been visited and has no relationship with a parent for over 6 years out of state. 15 year old wants nothing to do with parent and has wishes to not be obligated to having contact. parent has made 1 call to child within the last year. Can child be amincipated from this parent?

A child can not be emancipated from one parent. Emancipation occurs when a child satisfies a certain set of events. It is a legal term which basically means that the child is of age and means to financially support him/her self. It has nothing to do with the parent/child relationship or the rights of either.

The father's parental rights can be involuntarily if another wants to adopt the child because in such a circumstance a judge would probably find that the absent parent had abandoned his parental rights and allow the adoption. In the absence of an adoption proceedure parental rights can not be terminated
