Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

18 year old changing custodial parent?

My son served me with motion papers for his father to be his custodian and to cease sending child support from his father. The fact that he is 18, does this prevent me from fighting this?

Re: 18 year old changing custodial parent?

Generally, custody does not apply to an 18 year old. He can live whereever and with whomever he chooses. It is the age of majority. Therefore, I know of no way for you to fight against his choice. If you would like to further discuss this matter, please contact my secretary, Debbie, at 856-795-6700 to schedule a consultation.
