Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
18 years ago I had a restraining order aginst my then husband because of abuse. I hired an attorney to represent me. My 10 year old son was abused by him at the time also. Thje police were called on repeated incidents. Without my permission, and while my arm was in a sling from a broken arm from him, she gave him pernission to come to my home. She called me when he was on the way. I fired her on the spot. He did arrive with another man who enter my house and started to abuse me. the police were called and a friend ran from across the street to intervene. Because of the incident I was forced to hide from my husband until the divorce. Now that I have remarried, 18 years later, and we sold a house, she is suing me for $7500. This is not agreeable to me. All she did was not respect the judge's decision on the restraining order. I had the right to fire her. I did pay her $100 18 years ago before the incident occurred. Also in the divorce decree the judge ordered my ex-husband to pay her. He filed for bankrupcy 3 years after the divorce and I have had to pay over $40000.00 of his debt on his home he had before he married me (I had my own). Isigned a quickdeed at the divorcee. I don't understand how this can all be legal. I keep winning in court, which is costing me money. But in the end I am always stuck with a bill he did not pay. Now to have this attorney sue me is the limit. I have all court papers and I want to know how to put closure on this, even if it means the bar association, Enough is enough.
