abandonment
i am an indian citizen my husband had abandoned me he got admission at mit he left me in india but now iam in US igot admission at njit,he wants divorce but idon't i want to take legal action against him

Well first he has to meet some procedural requirements for NJ to take the case. Thus, he if does file against you, we may be able to kick the case right out of court. However, I would need more info from you to tell you that. Assuming he can bring you to court in NJ, I don't see much you can do about it. Almost all divorces settle out of court and if you really wanted to fight his cause of action, it could get very expensive for you to do so. I would never pressure you to do anything, but if you wanted my advice, I would just get it over with unless you think you can get the case to be heard in India and you would prefer the case to be heard there. To file for divorce in New Jersey either you and he must have lived in New Jersey for a year.
