Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Adopting someone as my sister

My best friend and I want to adopt each other as sisters. So she'd become my sister and I'd become her sister legally. Can we do that in New Jersey?

Re: Adopting someone as my sister

I believe you can not. Being a sister means having a common parent. For you to become sisters one of your parents would have to adopt one of you.
