Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

At what age can a child change custodial parents.

I've been divorced 10 years, my daughter is 12 going on 13 very soon.. She's begging me to go for custody of her, it seems life at moms isn't that good.. At what age will a judge listen to what my daughter has to say, and base his decision on that.

Re: At what age can a child change custodial parents.

Thank you for your inquiry.

While there is no set age that a judge will consider the wishes of a minor child, your daughter may be at such an age where her wishes may be considered.

It would be my pleasure to speak to you about your potential divorce. Accordingly, please feel free to contact my office at 732 246 0909 to discuss further.

Very truly yours,

Edward R. Weinstein
