Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Alimoney ans Social Security

I am trying to find out if i can be made to make alimoney payments if my husband and i divorce. We married approx 18 months ago. It appears that we are both unhappy and divorce is proabable. He has informed me that he spoke to an atty and was told that he would be entitled to alimoney from me since he is permanently disabled. I am a fulltime college student at this point, graduating this may. I have no job and have not had one since a few weeks after we married. I do intend to be working in a well paying job soon. Can I be made to pay alimoney because he is disabled even though he was supporting me for the majority of the marriage just because i start working? Please i need some advise.

Re: Alimoney ans Social Security

Thank you for your inquiry.

Based upon the short term of htem arriage, I would say that alimony is unlikely. However, I need to learn more facts about income, the disability, and the like.

It would be my pleasure to speak to you about your potential divorce. Accordingly, please feel free to contact my office at 732 246 0909 to discuss further.

Very truly yours,

Eighteen months of marriage gets your husband virtually no alimony. He can get a few months at the very most. 800 273 7933
