Alimony

I live in the state of New Jersey. I've been paying alimony for the last 12 years. I have just lost my job. I would like to know if there are any stipulations that I must continue to pay alimony without have any income?

Re: Alimony

If you lost your job involuntarily you are entitled to apply for a downward modification of you support obligation, at least temporarily.

Call me if you like.

Re: Alimony

Yes, but you need to file a motion with the court before you do anything. Without any money, it might be real tough to hire an attorney, but I suggest you at least consult with one before doing anything.

My initial consultations are always free, so call me at 732/247/3340 to discuss your case.

Re: Alimony

You are a man who needs a divorce attorney. Soon!

As my friend Gary Moore already told you, you many apply to reduce the alimony that you pay, provided that you lost your job involuntarily (if you just quit because you wanted to, you are out of luck).

I know that you are short of money. Still, a lawyer's help would be very valuable for you.

If you would like, give me a call; I am in Hackensack (northern New Jersey). I will be happy to discuss

this with you; a brief telephone consultation will be free.

My contact information can be obtained from the links below, just click on the Attorney Profile link. Let my secretary know you found me through LawGuru.
