Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Alimony reduction, is it possible

I am currently paying permanent alimony to my ex-wife of 8 yrs, because she is permanently disabled, which I do not believe, even though her doctor says she is. I lost my job 2 months ago(due to no fault of my own) and the court & probation dept. have issued a bench warrant for my arrest. They want money, which I do not have. How will putting me in jail help? I have been interviewing and looking for a job everyday for the past 2 months. I have not been able to find anything. If I file a motion for temp. suspension, I will lose and end up paying her legal fees. I am stuck, isn't there anything that could be done? I am not a bum, I am educated and have never been without employment, however, my position was eliminated from my company due to budget problems. Thank you.

I would suggest that you call my office to make an appointment to discuss your situation. You should have contested her disability in your divorce, but, in any event, a significant change of circumstances can entitle your to relief.
