Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

What are my alternatives to appearing in court for lack of child support?

Hi,

My daughter lives in Colorado with her mother. After 2 years of not allowing me contact with my child for no apparent reason, she chose to bring me to court in New jersey where i lived at the time for lack of support. I appeared as per the summons, asked for a DNA test from the judge, and was refused one, based on the grounds that I waited 5 years to ask for one and had signed paternity papers. Now that I havent paid my support but am now living in NY, I recieved a forwarded letter from NJ family court asking me to appear. I feel like this is a losing battle as I have no job and no way to pay anything and was railroaded the last time by NJ. What if I just dont show up at the NJ court?ould they really look for me out of state and put me in jail? Iam going to apply for welfare soon.

Thank you,

Marc

They will proceed without you and enter an order and possibly a judgment against you which can be enforced where you live. 800 273 7933
