Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

appearance in court if defendant

My spouse and I settled our divorce. Do I need to appear in court to sign the divorce papers if I am the defendant? My lawyer has informed me of my rights in that I can't sue later on down the road for anything I have given up like alimony, pension plan, etc.

If I were you I would go to

Court to insure that the property settlement agreement which I signed is the one placed in evidence when your spouses places it in the record. Getting divorce is too important to treat like a parking ticket.
