Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Appearing in FL Court for a case that orininated in NJ

Can I appear in a Florida court (where I now reside) to modify a custody agreement as well as child support? Especially if my ex is agreeing to all the new terms? I simply cannot afford to fly back to NJ for a hearing.

If your ex agrees to the terms then you may employ a lawyer (like myself) to prepare a Consent Order here in New Jersey.

If both of you agree and place the terms into an order to which you mutually agree, the attorney can put the terms into an order and have the parties sign it to indicate their consent for it to become an order. The other person may have an attorney review if they wish.

Then the lawyer submits the order to the local court where the case is venued and the agreement becomes an enforceable order.

It's much easier than court proceedings either there or here--it's much less costly---and it promotes the best interests of children by having the parents agree.

More information would be required but this approach might work for you. Please send me an email and I may give you a call if you wish.

To modify a judgment for divorce entered in New Jersey you must file a motion in New Jersey. Using an attorney you can accomplish this end without appearing in court in New Jersey, physically. With an attorney you can appear by speakerphone in the court room.

Call me if you like.
