Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

I'm about to have a baby, and I'm afraid that if something happens to me that the father would have sole custody and I don't want that. He hasn't been around and is extremely irresponsible. Would a notorized letter stand in the court of law for my parents to be her sole guardian if something should happen to me?

A notarized letter is insufficient. You may want to consider obtaining a Will and a heath care proxy that express your desires.
