Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
Back to court again.
Hello. My childs father and I have just gone thru 2
mediation sessions and we came up with an
agreement yesterday. We both signed it and left it
in the hands of the mediator. Today he tells me he
doesnt agree with anything that we agreed to
yesterday and he is gonna take me back to
court/mediation. Can he do this? Im tired of
wasting my time at mediation, he brings me to
court constantly for the same things! Is our
agreement official once we signed it, even though
Im not sure if it has reached the judge yet? What
can I do here?? Thank you!

Both answers are essentially correct. It would be binding unless your ex can demonstrate some compelling reason why he should not be bound. Most judges will not allow him to renege merely because he changed his mind. We are available for a further consultation at 973/661/3400.

If he signed an agreement, and you signed it, then the agreement should be enforceable. He can not just change his mind whenever he wants to.
