Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Would I have a case?

I met a guy a couple of yrs ago, we dated, we fell in love. After I already fell in love he told me he was very much married. When I first met him he told me he was divorced for yrs.Matter of fact he had just broke up with his girlfriend that he dated for 5 yrs. I have a infant by him. He is making my life hell. Him & his wife (who stayed with him) make me feel like a surrogate mother. If I had known he was married (I honestly did not know, some people find that hard to believe) I would never ever had date him. If someone were to sue & actually win, maybe people will think twice in turning someone's life upside down. Which he has done & now he thinks he is a man for stepping up. A real man would have told me he was married from day one so I could have made my own decision. This may sound silly, but some of the other suits out there are much stupider, this ione has literally caused more stress than one can imagine & b/c of my infant I have to continue dealing with him & he just continues to make my life stressful.

Of course there is alot more to this story.

Thank you,

Re: Would I have a case?

I would be willing to help you get child support from him, make him provide health insurance for the baby, get back from him anything that is yours which he has, and make him pay any bills that he ran up on your credit, and similar items. If he has hurt you physically, or has broken an agreement (breached a contract), I could assist with that.

I would not sue him for lying to you about his marriage.

If you would like, give me a call to set up an appointment; I am in northern New Jersey. My contact information can be obtained from the links below, just click on the Attorney Profile link. Let my secretary know you found me through LawGuru.

I agree with Mr. Davies, you cannot bring a suit because you have no cause of action or a reason for bringing the suit. At least, none that I see now. I would recommend you get an attorney as soon as possible or at least file a pro se motion for child support to "start the clock" because you cannot recover back child support if there was no order or motion in place.
