Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
child custody
My EX girlfriend and I are expecting a child in feb. Things between she and I are not well and she is telling me that she is not gonna allow me to 1. be present when my son is born. 2. have access to spend time with my son (except when she says he is old enough) I hope that there has to be something I can do..I moved from new orleans when I found out she was pregnant to NJ to be apart of my son's life...does she actually have more of a right to be a parent than i do ?

Re: child custody
Your rights are equal to hers when it comes to access to the child. Nothing she threatens is real.
You have the right to be present for the birth of your child.
The troubling aspect of your question that she seems to be thinking of herself, instead of thing of the child. The child should not be used as a weapon against you; it will only harm the child. What you need is for a family member or clergyman
or someone to intercede and to get her to understand that the child is fortunate to have a father who wants to uphold his resonsibilities because many do not.
If all else fails you can go into court and assert your rights.

You should really sit down with an attorney. There is a lot to discuss and a lot of bad news to tell you.
