child custody involving one parent who is recovering 14 years
what effect will my addiction play in child custody, i have been sober for 14 years however because it is easier to get non narcotic drugs from work then going to a physcian or filling a prescription my husband is trying to use this as a drug diversion. i have taken motrin, zovirax, colace and fiorcet in four years. i abuse none of them but realize i shouldnot take from work i need to get a prescription.
my husband is having an adultrous affair and has a domestic violence record. when filing for divorce he is pushing for equal and shared custody. this abhors me because he has not been a father in ten years.

Re: Addiction problem and child custody
Your main problem may be perception rather than reality. By the way you have formulated your question, you seem to have justified your actions. On the other hand, the Courts may not recognize that you have taken an appropriate step. You first need to seek drug addiction help before you have any chance of obtaining custody of your children. Keep in mind that this advice is based purely on the little bit of information that you have given to me. There may be other factors that would change my opinion. Further, no one can rely on advice from an attorney who has not been retained. Since it appears that you have not retained an attorney, before you take any further action, you should contact an attorney (either me or someone else) to discuss your matter in more detail. Only then will you be able to rely on the advice. I will be happy to assist you. However, you need to call me at 856-546-8010. Good luck! Rob Gleaner
