Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Child Custody

I've had legal custody of my two children for 8 years (they are ages 9 and 10). Last year the mother of the children wanted visitation, which was given to her. Last year, the mother took one of the children and I have not been in touch with her or the child. Today I received papers to appear in court for child support. A lawyer last year told me that I should file for child support from her, but since she has multiple children with other fathers, and I was caring for my children, I did not want to burden her with that hardship. Now, she's looking for support (which I agree I should pay something). Since I have the other child, and who knows what she had done to the one she took, would she have to give me support as well for the child I have now? And if I pay support for the child she has, will it only be calculated for the one child, not the other children that live with her from other relationships?
