Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
child custody and support
I am a single parent of an 8 yr old and ive never recieved support from my sons father and he doesnt make any effort to see him or support him. my question is what should i do? do i go to court for full custody and support or should i continue to do it on my own? We went to court 6yrs ago and we have joint legal custody where the child resides with me. Where do i go from here? what are my options in the state of new jersey?

Re: child custody and support
you have already heard from two good attorneys, Jef and Gary, and they are right.
the court clerk will help you. if you would like, call me and i will see what i can do for you. you should get support from him, but you can not force him to be a decent father to the boy, unfortunately.
as i said, call me and i will see what i can do to help you. no charge for the call.

You should already have a child support order as part of the order granting you residential custody of your child. You need only file a motion with the Court to enforce the order.
Call me if you like.

You should go to court ASAP to get support. I suggest you see an attorney to see if you can get back child support.
