Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

child custody

I have a 6 year old. She Has been living with my mother since she was less than a year old. I was a domestic violence victim from her father. He has been in and out of jail. He's been released. Now, he's calling & threating my mom by telling her he's going to take my daughter.I have custody of her and in fact, there's nothing in writing to state my mom has her. He, of course, has nothing. He's telling my mom he's going to accuse me of abandoning her. I am scared he may kidnap my daughter.

What should I do?

Re: child custody

If the father of your child is illegally harassing your mother, yourself, or your child, this may be a criminal offense. You and/or your mother should press criminal charges. You should also notify the phone co. if you/your mother are being harassed by telephone.

If you feel there is an emergency or imminent threat to you, your mother, or the child, you should call "911".

You can also take steps in family court by seeking a protective order against the father to prohibit any unauthorized contacts.

You need to get an attorney to assist you as soon as possible, as the child's safety may be in jeopardy if your fears are correct.

I strongly recommend that you consult with an attorney immediately so that you can explore your legal rights, obligations, and options. If you wish to discuss retaining my services, contact me at:
