Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

child custody

I had a child 3 years ago with a girl. I was not dating or have ever had a relationship with this woman. We have had a oral agreement on visitation. The child has my last name and is on my insurance. I had taken a blood test to find out if he was my son, and it came back positive. I never signed the birth certificate or seen it. I want to know what the chances are of getting custody of him. She is trying to move out of the state, and there is nothing to say I am his father except the blood test. What legal steps would I have to take in this matter

Thank you for your time....

Re: child custody

You need to file a custody application immediately. Do not delay. Keep in mind that this answer is given based on the narrow facts that you have provided to me. The answer may change as I receive other information. Further, no one can rely on advice from an attorney who has not been retained by you. You need to immediately consult with an attorney (either me or someone else). Only then will you be able to rely on the advice given.
