Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Child Custody/Support

My exgirlfriend was appointed

residential custody of my two

children and a few months ago I was

ordered to pay her child support

$150 per week. The thing is that I

have the children a total of eight

hours more than she does. She

drops them off every Wednesday at

5 pm and I return them on Sunday

at 9 am. If I have the kids more why

do I have to pay her? Also, the town

she lives in has metal detectors in

their elementry schools and the

town I live in was named a start

school district.

What is wrong with the court

system? Why was she appointed

residental custody and child support.

Re: Child Custody/Support

What went wrong is that you probably went to court without an attorney. When you don't have one, wacky things tend to happen. I have no idea why, but that is just my opinion since I handle many cases where my client first tries it on their own and things go wrong and then I come in and have to clean things up. When a lawyer gets in the case, the rules are followed and the matter seems rather routine.

I couldn't answer your question more specifically without knowing more of the facts. My initial consultations are always free, so call me at 732/247/3340 and we can discuss what went on here.
