Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Child Endangerment

My aunt, 'Jane' has two kids - she is physically abusive, receives government housing and funding and does not have a job. My other aunt, 'Mary' stayed with them for a few months while her house was being remodeled. She provided for them while the funds from the gov't went to booze. Mary lied to social services when they came to their monthly check in. She told them nothing about the booze. Mary has sinced moved and the situation has gotten worse. I am planning on calling Social Services about this - but I do not want Mary to face any legal problems, she is a wonderful person. My question is - could she be in danger of legal action from the govermnent?

Re: Child Endangerment

I believe that DYFS will do a thorough investigation, and will want to know what your aunt Mary knew about the situation while she was living with your aunt Jane.

You should not decline to report a problem to DYFS. However, you can make an anonymous report.
