Re: child support amount
New Jersey is different from New York.
New Jersey takes your income and compares it to the child's mother's income, and factors in some additional things, and gives you a number.
You will be paying child support for a long long time. Please hire a lawyer to help you negotiate child support NOW, before you end up in front of a Judge who will decide this issue. You may do a lot better.

Re: child support amount
New Jersey does not use a fixed percentage of income to calculate the child support obligation. We have Child Support Guidelines which are a part of the rules of court. Your net available, weekly income is plugged into a worksheet in a computer program, as well as any other child support obligations and the program spits out a number which is usually what the Court requires.

If I knew your salary and the mom's, I could give you an idea as to how much you would pay.
