Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

child support

My boyfriend lives in kansas. He is still currently married and she lives in NJ. They have been seperated for approximately 4 years. He receieved child support papers from NJ requesting he appear in court on Nov. 13, 2007. Mom is on state assistance. I guess I have a couple of questions. First, does he have to appear in court or can he just send an answer. Second, what percentage does NJ use when the mother is on state assisstance? Also, there has never been an order for child support. Thanks

Re: child support

His child support payment will be calculated on the basis of his available, net weekly income.

He can avoid physically appearing in court by hiring an attorney who will appear in court, with your boyfriend appearing by speaker phone.
