Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Child support case deleted!

Why was my case deleted. My case was opened when I had my son. i was on welfare so I didn't receive any money. Now I am trying to get the absent parent to pay but they say my case was deleted. I moved and currently live in NC. I filed here and first my status was paternity and now the case was closed. Why can't they establish a case if one was established before. I also got married and have been for the past 7 years. Why can't I collect support for the children I had before I got married. Where do I go from here?

Re: Child support case deleted!

You can enforce your New Jersey judgment if the

absent parent still lives in New Jersey. "Deleted" is not a term I am familar with because case records are never erased. I

would think that they meant that your case was closed. It can be reopened to enforce a judgment.

Give me a call if you like.

Re: Child support case deleted!

I'm a little confused. Did you file something in court down in NC? If that is the case, then you may have transferred jurisdiction to NC from NJ. That's the only way I can think that your case would be closed. Feel free to call me at 732/247/3340 and I can attempt to figure out what happened when you give me more information. My initial consultations are always free.
