Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
child support
my children are 19 and 20. My ex and I divorced 10yr ago. My ex had to pay 5k a year for ea child for 4yrs of college if attended. He makes 5x more then I do. My oldest daughter went into rehab last year and now claims her father had sex with her when she was under 18 yr. He wants to only pay her bills if he has a diagnosis and a treatment from all doctors for both children before treatment or he won't pay his half. can he do this and can I get him to pay child support and more college money for my 19 yr old. I cant'afford anymore

Re: child support
Talk about a powder keg!!! You probably do not know which way to turn. He should pay for ALL of her treatment, since he seems to have caused her
problem. Your agreement as to the support of your children is not in concrete. The Court always wants
what is in the best interest of the children. He should pay five times what you pay for your children's education.
Call me if you like.

You need a very good divorce attorney (you are already divorced but this is a divorce type problem).
What your daughter has said is stunning. If true, of course, then it is not only a crime and a very serious crime, but also a very horrible and damaging thing to do to his daugther. She will need help with this.
You can go back to court, and I recommend that you consult and hire an experienced divorce attorney, and get some advice on this.
By the way, he can not be taking her allegations seriously; if he did, he would not be quarelling over who pays the doctor bills.
It makes no sense for him to pay only $5000 for college IF he is making a very substantial amount of money.
Get a divorce attorney. Get her treated by a good psychiatrist.
