Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Child Support and College

If in divorce decree there is no mention or provisions set forth re: who pays for college involving 1 child. who pays?

does it matter if the child stays within the state of nj. or goes out-of-state.? what if the payer of child support is also paying for college what happens with child support? do you have to go back to court to figure this out?

Re: Child Support and College

Hi,

You raise a lot of issues. There are many factors that apply to determine if a person has to pay for college and child support. However, if you are paying for college, depending on the amount, whether it includes room and board, you might be entitled to a significant reduction in your child support. I would need more information to give a better answer for your situation.
