Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Child support and continued education

My husband's son graduated from high school three weeks ago. He will be nineteen in November. Although he will not be attending college, he has decided to attend a technical school beginning in October taking courses in computer science He will be attending part-time so he can continue to work. He presently lives with his mother and step-father. Do child support payments continue while he is attending a technical school part-time? What he later on he decides to go full-time? What is my obligation regarding his tutition? Is the non-custodial parent required to pay both tuition costs and child support?

Re: Child support and continued education

hi - i would immediately get a lawyer and file a notice of motion to terminate the child support due to your stepson's emancipation.

the college/child support issue is very complicated, and it's best to have an attorney w/such a matter.

the part-time work/school issue also impacts it. feel free to call me at 609 263-0089 if you have any other questions. good luck !!
