Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Child Support

I got divorced in Dec 2000 and have 3 daughters.

I am currently paying $525/month ($175 per) in child support.

My ex moved and now lives in PA.

My oldest daughter turns 23 this Fri 3/21, graduated college in Dec 2007, and now has a F/T job in NYC and is currently living with me. Should I still be paying her child support? If not, how do I go about stop paying? Does the court order need to be changed? Does doing so open up a can of worms? Is there any downside to this? Since she is with me and I am providing somewhat for her, could use the $175.

If I need an attorney, how much ?

PS my next daughter graduates PennSt in May and is going to be 22 in May. Can I kill 2 birds with one stone?

Re: Child Support

I also believe you can file a motion to terminate the child support. But, did you sign a Propery Settlement Agreement with your ex-wife? What did you agree to in terms of support?

If you wish to discuss, please feel free to call me.

Re: Child Support

You should not have to pay child support for her. Yes, you could file one motion for both but you must file a motion, otherwise the child support will continue.

My initial consultations are always free, so call me at 732/247/3340 to discuss your case. We can talk about price then.
