Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Child Support

My husband is currently paying child support for a child that lives in New York. He would like to get the support lowered because he is making less money due to an illness. Can my husband petition the court in the state of New Jersey where we reside or does he have to petition the court in Queen New York where the case was originally opened. Thank you for your help.

Re: Child Support

The best procedure, since NY is so close, would be to retain a lawyer in NY to handle the matter. He or she would be familiar with the standards that would allow for the reduction and the procedures to make it happen for you. Good luck! Rob Gleaner
