Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
Child support payments
I pay more child support then what is court ordered. I know I have a moral obligation to help pay my sons hebrew school. If my wife says she needs the tuition now and I cant afford it right now. Am I legaly obligated to go into hock to pay it? I want to help pay it I just dont have the money right now.

Re: Child support payments
You have to pay what the court orders you to pay, nothing more. However, if you start to pay for something and then stop, she could file a motion and force you to pay it. The court may then say that you have created a situation where she relied upon your payments and you cannot pull the rug out at the last minute. Again, I'm not saying that will happen, but if I am her lawyer, that's my story and courts have bought lesser arguments.
