Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

child support

My child support was recently modified. Decreased for 3 children...the mom, me, custodial parent. My 15 yo daughter, is with me 100% of the time. My sons partake in visitation with their father. The support was retroactive from my ex's filing date leaving me owing him...$2300. Can the state/judge put a weekly payment plan on what I can afford to pay...do I have a say in what I can afford. I've already had my child support decreased by $131/week as it is...not to mention any cost of living I've received in the past 6 years since the FJOD has be eliminated with the modification. Do I have any rights. I owe my ex, not the state, right? And is it still considered a ''child support arrearage?

Re: child support

This should have all been taken care of in court. I suggest you talk to your ex to find out how you will pay him back. Otherwise, you will need to go back to court to sort it out.
