Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
child support reduction
I have been layed off from my job and unemployed since the end of April. Can I go back to court to have my child support reduced?? My income has substantially decreased and while my unemployment benefits are being garnished for the full amount of the child support, I am left to live on less than half of my benefits per week. Please advise ASAP. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Re: child support reduction
If you can establish a substantial change of circumstance, you should be able to get a reduction. If the Court believes it is temporary or self-imposed, you may not be able to get the reduction. The issue will be decided on the particular facts of your case. Keep in mind that this advice is given based on very limited facts.
