Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Child Support /School Tuition after been laid off

My boyfriend got laid off last September, he got a severance package that lasted up till December,

He was paying 155 per week for child support, right now we are only living on my self employment income and need to support 3 kids of my own. Can someone give us some advise. The ex, obviously don't care that and keeps pressuring for her money, I was only able to pay up to the second week of January, now we are behind two weeks.

Are we able to suspend payment until he finds a new job or get unemployment money, which is taking for ever to be approved.

Finally, we are also paying more 75 percent on tuition, do we get to reduce this percentange for the remaining of the year. I am sure it is not too simple.

Any advise would be greately appreciated. We currently do not have representation on this matter since it has been a while since he was in court for any child support issues.

He can ask the Court to reduce child support because his income is reduced. He must file a written motion to do so.

The only way to get a reduction in child support is by Court Order. Your b/f needs to file a motion for modification based on his loss of employment. Any other issues can be included in the motion. Until he files, he remains liable for the existing child support.
