Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
Childcare
I was awarded joint custody with one day a week of overnight increasing to 2 days after eight weeks. Ex has returned to work but leaves our son with hermother. I feel that it is ib our son's best interest that he be with one of his parents whenever possible. Can I get this additional time?

Re: Childcare
Hi,
You should be able to get more time, especially if you have joint custody. The Courts usually perfer the child to be with the parents rather than another person.
You would have to file a motion to enforce the current Court Order and in the motion seek additional parenting ("visitation") time with your son.

Re: Childcare
I've been in this situation before and a lot depends on the judge and your character. Assuming there is nothing wrong with you, i.e. drug problems, criminal record, etc. I don't see why you couldn't get some of this additional time. Keep in mind you probably can't get all as grand parents have right to.
